On some occasions, there will be expectations for work to be ready for the next lesson on other occasions, and for more extended assignments, extra time will be given as appropriate. It may well involve written work but will also involve drawing, reading, learning vocabulary, interviewing, watching the news, etc. Homework set will be varied but it will all be worthwhile.

If your son/daughter finds that the work that they have been set does not take up the full amount of time then they should spend time reviewing work done that week, perhaps by researching a topic covered. Please note these are average times and that they are intentionally broad and flexible. Homework is set via an online tool called satchel:one (previously Show My Homework). Some subjects have a homework club too your son/daughter should ask a teacher when it is. Homework Club is a good place to get help and it runs every lunchtime in Learning Support. If your son/daughter is unsure about the task set then they must ask the teacher for help before the date that the work is due in. Teachers will make sure they are clear about what tasks should be done and when they need to be done. During the first few weeks of the autumn term teachers will set up the homework timetable with your son/daughter. It is an opportunity to reinforce learning and to establish good study habits that will be of benefit throughout your son/daughter's education and beyond into work.
